Out of the mouth of babes! Kids say the darnedest things, don’t they? They always put big smiles on our faces, they make us laugh from their adorable antics, they melt our hearts with their sweetness and innocence, and more often than not, they make our eyes swell during touching and even heartbreaking moments. Well, little Tiana in that video made me tear up with her heartwarming advice that I just wanted to give her a great big hug. 🤗 She is indeed wise beyond her years. What her Mom captured in this viral clip teaches the world more about patience, kindness, cooperation and the Savior’s L💚VE, filled with humility and meekness. Jesus taught us to learn from the mouth of babes.
“And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?” (Matt 21:16)
Just pondering the question... Do we humble ourselves enough and become like little children? That can be a great motivator... to strive to be a better person! 👍👫 We can certainly learn a great deal from children. 😉 They are priceless and are precious gifts directly from God. I remember once I was going through a drive-through with my Mother. The woman ahead of us was swearing at her children and being very unkind. Tears filled my Mom’s eyes and she said, “How can she do that to those precious little souls? No child deserves that. I wish I could wrap them all up in a blanket and take them home with me 😥 and love them.” Mom had the most beautiful and tender heart! ☺️
Rather than lecture or scold these precious little souls, it benefits us when we can get down on their level and attempt to see ourselves though their eyes—their world. The Lord promises that if we are teachable and pure in heart like a little child, our reward will be great in heaven.
“And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3-4)
Sweet children are sponges. They are transparent and even blunt at times, but they’re curious, innocent, and they often surprise us with great wisdom.
My children have always been amazing sources of inspiration for me. Even through some of the most difficult times they have taught me to be kinder more understanding, and to create a home of hope... with loving rules, of course. 😉 Children need to know their boundaries and consequences, mixed ALWAYS with great COMPASSION and UNCONDITIONAL LOVE!😘 I’ve been asked in interviews how I survived growing up in the world of show bussiness, especially being a child celebrity? My answer is always, ‘God gave me eight beautiful children to raise. They made me see the reality of this life—no illusions. They made me want to grow up so I could become the responsible adult for them in their lives.
In addition to my eight kids and 3 1/2 grand babes (yes, we have another boy on the way! 👶🏻), I am SOOO blessed to be surrounded by more of the sweetest of angels when I visit our many amazing Miracle Kids at the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. They bring joy to my life and life to my world! You can’t have a bad day when you see what they have to go through. You can’t complain when you see them face the trials of their young lives, with such bravery, dignity and courage. They teach me daily to strive to be a better person! They give me strength, purpose and hope in the people who provide their excellent medical care, and who give them the love they need away from home.
And so, like the sweet little girl in the video teaches us... let us all be low (humble), smile and be friends. Tiana wants everyone “to be in the middle” where her “heart is.” She says, “If we live in a world where everyone is being mean, everyone is going to be a monster in the future!” The anger and judgment that are being put out through various forms of media is so concerning to me for these precious little children. Let us strive to protect them, be great examples to them... in kindness and in spreading the love in this world. Like Tiana says, if we don’t, we will all end up like monsters! 🤖🤣 You made my day, Tiana, and I commend your Mom for raising such a wonderful little angel 👼🏻. You are loved! 😘💕💋
