So this lady came up to me last night at our show’s meet and greet at the Flamingo Las Vegas and said how much she enjoys the Sunday blogs I post every week. I said thank you and told her that I didn’t know what today’s post would be about yet so pray for me to be inspired, and we both laughed! It’s interesting to me how the subjects I cover are always triggered or inspired by something that happened to me that week. I feel blessed beyond measure when God seems to provide something for me to ponder upon or feel blessed by.

Well at the end of the meet and greet, I was touched and humbled when I met the last person in line. This woman said that my honesty in sharing with others some of my personal trials has helped her, especially with her adopted son. She went on to say, “I almost gave up and could have even lost my marriage but I hung in there and I’m so glad I didn’t quit!” She continued sharing that this past Mother’s Day after years of a strained relationship with her son, how he finally said to her, “I love you, Mom. Thank you for loving me and always being there and for never giving up on me.” I am so grateful to her for telling me this beautiful story last night. I’ve always believed that by honestly sharing what we go through, it helps others who are undergoing similar struggles. I believe too that even through our most extreme suffering, God does care deeply about us, allowing us to grow and is behind us all the way, if we just don’t give up. Most importantly, I believe He cares about what we do with our personal triumphs and battles, in hopes that we will uplift and help others.

I told this woman last night too, that God promises us that He’ll never give us anything more than we can handle... I guess that means we’re tougher than we think. ☺️ LOL

We have so much to be grateful for as we grow and progress through this journey called life. What are you grateful for? Are you looking forward to next week like me… when we can enjoy a plump turkey, filled with the tastiest stuffing, drenched with mouth-watering gravy over fluffy mashed potatoes—not to mention the marshmallow-coated yams and delectable desserts that follow a great traditional Thanksgiving meal? I know that meal will make me GROW a bit in size. 🤣😂🤣 Hello Nutrisystem!

I learned at a young age that I could single-handedly prep an entire turkey feast on my own, (my brothers canNOT cook😝) but there’s just something about delegating assignments that can create a stress-free and more peaceful celebration. It takes team effort and love to make this gathering even more special, doesn’t it?

Since I’m doing a show on Thanksgiving day, I have a group text going with all the girls in my family—Claire’s Mom and Sister included. We’re all getting together so we’ve been texting about the menu regarding who’s going to do what. Claire is our AMAZING pumpkin pie baker and Rachael is our banana cream pie maker. 😋 We love our pies!!! So I chuckled when I saw the pumpkin pie photo and caption:

“The quickest way to start a fight on Thanksgiving.”

Sure, we have our preferred kind… but one thing’s for sure, everyone wants a PIECE of the pie, and the end result is keeping PEACE in the home.

Having Christ’s peace doesn’t necessarily mean life without trials, contention or even adversity-free living… what it can give us is hope, plus, the strength to lift one another’s burdens so that we may feel His peace. The Savior said to His disciples:

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)

Thanksgiving is more than just a heartwarming tradition, great food or amazing company… it is a time to put our differences aside and make peace with those we may be squabbling with. After all, an ungrateful heart receives no mercy but a thankful heart will always find the pathway home on a peaceful Thanksgiving Day.

I’ll be taking next Sunday off writing so please enjoy next weekend with your loved ones!

I would love to hear what you do to perpetuate peace in your home and which piece of pie you choose as your favorite. 😉  Happy Sunday and have a Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃
